Intro + Profile Pic

Here’s a shot of me! As a quick introduction, I am Zoadra J. Zorro, a musician, writer, and enthusiast of (most) geek things. My likes can range from Philosophy to Nintendo video games. I like writing, producing music, and sometimes drawing. I also am trying to break into film photography as a side hobby! I like cosmic science fantasy, dark fantasy, and high fantasy. Moby Dick is my favorite book. I own a 2016 Dodge Challenger. That’s about it for me!

Yellowstone Awaits!

My Yellowstone 2024 trip is one week away! I couldn’t be more happy to finally have reached this point. A lot has been going on lately, and I am raring to go! In the time since my last post I made a Yellowstone Packet, a 88 page document that contains everything my family needs to know in order to be successful on our RV road trip. I printed two copies to a spiral notebook, respectively, and I am proud of my effort. But actually, the packet needs an update. We made some last-minute changes to the plan.

For instance, our first stop is going to be in Jennings, Florida, a 120-mile drive, rather than Chattanooga, TN, a 481-mile drive. Chattanooga will be the second stop now, and that means we extended the vacation by a day – Friday the 14th instead of Saturday the 15th will be the day we leave.

Not only that, but instead of WaKeeny, KS, we are going to Dodge City, KS. I specifically requested this because I saw an episode of Supernatural where they go to Dodge City, and I was enamored with the cowboy culture. Just a guy thing. I don’t think we’ll have time to do much in Dodge City, but I bought the Dodge City by Tom Clavin audiobook to listen to on the way there!

I am significantly anxious about this trip because I am a very slow-moving person. I thrive on familiarity and rest, and so it will be a unique challenge pushing myself out of my comfort zone for 16 days straight. However, it isn’t quite that discomforting to be able to rest in the Fifth Wheel my parents own. It’s very spacious, and has a full fridge for pete’s sake.

This is quite the beast of a fifth wheel. It has two sofas, a big microwave, and an island with a large rectangular sink, and plenty of cabinet space. It’s got a TV we bought specifically for it w/ sound bar, and of course the RV has an audio setup in the ceiling. Then there’s a master bedroom/master bath in it’s own section, so my parents can have privacy, and I get the lay of the whole living room area. It’s a sweet deal.

There’s a great deal of comfort to be had in this Fifth Wheel, and I couldn’t think of a more perfect RV for this long-winded trip. Now on to the good stuff: photography.

Photography

This is the Fujifilm Instax Wide 300.

This is me with the Instax Wide 300, an instant film camera from Fujifilm. I love this thing and definitely am the target audience for a wide lens instant film camera. It takes stunning photos and has the vintage warmth I have realized the film produces. I will be taking photos while on this 16-day odyssey. I have bought 100 film shots, yes, they are limited unlike digital, but I believe that will help me to be more careful about what I do decide is photo worthy. It doesn’t take good photos out of a window in a moving car. so that’s out of the picture. But I am excited about this endeavor – I’ll be taking photos like the dude I am. Cowabunga!

The Road So Far…

I am to travel from Ocala to Jennings, where we make our first stop. Then from Jennings, FL, to Chattanooga, TN. Then from there to Eureka, MO. Then from there to Sioux Falls, SD. Then from there to Hill City, SD. Then from there to West Yellowstone, MT. Then from there to Rock Springs, WY. Then from there to Denver, CO. Then from there to Dodge City, KS. Then from there to Oak Grove, MO. Then from there to Benton, IL. Then from there to Chattanooga, TN. Then from there to Ocala, Fl. 5,000ish miles, all in 16 days. Let’s go!

All in all, I am ready to enjoy myself and get inspired in nature to create better art. I will post, at a minimum, every two days starting on 6/15/24. I want to give myself some breathing room here and there, but rest assured I am all in on this little project.

I hope you all can enjoy my adventure vicariously! And that it’s interesting and inspires you to go on a trip like this. Ciao!
