Upcoming Adventure: Yellowstone Summer 2024

The Road Trip of a Lifetime

From Ocala, FL to West Yellowstone, MT all the way back, this 16-day road adventure in the RV will be an experience I will never forget. It’s 5,037 mi, 82 hours of driving, gas will cost $850, and we will stop at 11 campgrounds and 1 hotel, a trip that takes us through the interior of the West from the Southeast, and to the Rocky Mountains and back to Central Florida. I aim to write a travel blog of my experiences, enriched with at least 150 polaroid photos. Each day I aim to write a post, and scan the polaroid photos. I am getting a Samsung Tablet for blogging purposes – my OMEN laptop is a bit bulky and the trackpad is broken, so I have to always have it on a table with a mouse. So a tablet is the perfect way to write. We are considering doing a trial run of Starlink Roaming, and either way, most campgrounds have WiFi, even if it’s 1-10mbps download speed. Starlink Roaming does no better than 50mbps, and apparently often has outages. I know a trip through the great American West isn’t about the internet access, but it is 2024, and electronics are embedded in our lives. Either way, this trip will be epic.

Trip Outline

Travel as Art

If you’ve made it this far, I expect that you are a fan of travel. I see travel as art waiting to happen. Experiences breed ideas and inspirations, and that’s what makes good art. I am a writer, poet, musician, and now I am fancying myself as an amateur photographer. But it’s all about the art. To seek the unknown and lay it bare amongst the masses, in all of its raw, hideous glory. I am writing about America all the time, in the context of a supernatural adventure. I’m inevitably going to wait and see if this trip inspires any musical developments. And poetry can be written along the way. I have spent a long time just sitting around, thinking about the end of all things good, and so I believe I am long overdue for some positive, fresh air-fueled optimism, and the beauty that comes from acknowledging the sacredness of nature. THAT is art, buddy.

The Road Ahead

June 15 is just about three and a half months away. I will be preparing for it in June, but from now until then, I plan on working on projects, and eventually in May starting school. I got accepted into UCF Online for their History BA program. I am close to graduation with a bachelor’s, so close I can almost taste it. If I avoid doing a minor program, I will be about four semesters away. Summer A begins May 13, 2024. I am going to probably take a class or two in Summer B, which starts June 24, 2024. I don’t want to be at the end of Summer A and do my finals in the RV. I’d rather start the breezy beginning week of Summer B in the camper. Either way, this is the trip of a lifetime, I’ll make it work no matter what!
